After many years of being a Red Sox fan (although not nearly as many as Dave) in Yankee territory, I cannot tell you how good is does my heart to look out at the fading light of this fine October day and see this:
Yes, my friends, those are the colors of the best and decent baseball team in New York City, The New York Mets, and they are shining brightly over over our fair city, for the Mets are in the playoffs this year. As a matter of fact, The Mets finished in first place in the National League East standings in the regular season.
So very tired are these eyes of looking out on past fine October evenings only to see the colors of the Skankees. Well, now that the best part of that Evil Empire (The Core Four) is gone, and the team has recently been eliminated from the playoffs early on (I’m not saying that The Core Four had anything to do with the team’s success, mind you), I look outside our apartment window to see this…
…and I smile.
I don’t care how many nasty-grams I get from you Skankee fans, or how many “so how did the The Red Sox do this year, anyway?” comments I receive, I still get to look outside and see this…
…and it does my heart good.
Sometimes the good guys do win.
